AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of July 18, 1968 (P.L.405, No.183), entitled
2"An act providing compensation to certain persons who served
3in the military, naval or air forces of the United States or
4of any of her allies during the Vietnam Conflict; providing
5the method of making payment to representatives of persons
6who, because of death or incapacity, cannot personally
7receive compensation; imposing certain duties on the Adjutant
8General; making an appropriation and providing penalties,"
9extending the time period for filing applications for
10compensation.

11The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
12hereby enacts as follows:

13Section 1.  Section 4 of the act of July 18, 1968 (P.L.405, 
14No.183), known as the Vietnam Conflict Veterans' Compensation
15Act, amended March 16, 1976 (P.L.53, No.22), is amended to read:

16Section 4.  Application for Compensation.--Applications for
17compensation shall be made to the Adjutant General on forms and
18in the manner as he shall prescribe.

19All applications shall be made (1) personally by the veteran,
20or (2) in case of death or mental incompetency or missing in

1action preventing the making of a personal application, then by
2such representative of the veteran as the Adjutant General shall
3by regulation prescribe. An application made by a representative
4other than one authorized by such regulation shall be void.

5The Adjutant General shall not accept or consider any
6application filed or mailed after [four years beyond the date
7which Congress establishes as the end of the period of service
8for which a person shall be eligible to receive the Vietnam
9Service Medal.] December 31, 2015.

10Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
