A RESOLUTION
1Congratulating the Pennsylvania Jaycees on the occasion of its
275th anniversary.
3WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Jaycees is a member of the United
4States Junior Chamber of Commerce; and
5WHEREAS, The Jaycees provide leadership development through
6community volunteerism; and
7WHEREAS, In 1939, seven men in Wilkes-Barre conducted a
8meeting to form a State organization to be known as the
9Pennsylvania Junior Chamber of Commerce, which name was later
10changed to the Pennsylvania Jaycees; and
11WHEREAS, The State headquarters of the organization was first
12officially located in Johnstown, then was moved to Harrisburg,
13Camp Hill and, since 1971, has been based in Lancaster; and
14WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Jaycees has 26 local chapters
1throughout this Commonwealth; therefore be it
2RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
3Pennsylvania Jaycees on the occasion of its 75th anniversary.
