A RESOLUTION

 

1Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of the
2Borough of Seven Springs in Somerset and Fayette Counties.

3WHEREAS, The Borough of Seven Springs was officially
4incorporated in Somerset and Fayette Counties on January 1,
51964; and

6WHEREAS, Seven Springs has the distinction of being, in
7elevation, the highest borough in Pennsylvania at 2,540 feet;
8and

9WHEREAS, The residents of Seven Springs, along with resort
10partners, have a long tradition of local, regional, national and
11international volunteerism and philanthropy to organizations
12serving the sick and poor and innumerable other civic,
13educational, charitable and religious organizations; and

14WHEREAS, Seven Springs has recently worked to improve its
15environmental stewardship in all operations and facilities; and

1WHEREAS, Seven Springs is a tremendous regional resort
2destination attracting over one million visitors annually and
3generating significant tax revenue for State and local
4government; and

5WHEREAS, Seven Springs' recreational offerings have attracted
6economic development in the adjoining townships and nearby
7communities; and

8WHEREAS, Seven Springs was founded near the best pristine
9springs, the most majestic mountain scenery, solid farming and
10timber terrain and developable ski hillsides; and

11WHEREAS, Seven Springs was originally founded in 1932 by the
12visionary German immigrant Adolph Dupre and his wife, Helen, who
13were looking for beautiful mountain terrain to make their home;
14and

15WHEREAS, Today, Seven Springs is a vibrant asset of local,
16regional, Statewide and national pride; therefore be it

17RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate the
1850th anniversary of the incorporation of the Borough of Seven
19Springs in Somerset and Fayette Counties.
