A RESOLUTION
1Honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
2WHEREAS, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is widely regarded as
3one of the greatest leaders in modern world history; and
4WHEREAS, Dr. King's nonviolent and peaceful teachings led the
5way to racial equality in America during the 1950s, 1960s and
6beyond; and
7WHEREAS, Dr. King's speeches and lectures remain some of the
8most revered orations ever rendered in the English language; and
9WHEREAS, Under Dr. King's vision, the seeds of racism,
10discrimination, bigotry and prejudice would be replaced by an
11all-inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood; and
12WHEREAS, Dr. King's teachings and principles have been taught
13and embraced by successive generations and studied extensively
1by scholars all across the world; and
2WHEREAS, Dr. King's teachings and principles will remain
3firmly ensconced in the annals of history; and
4WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus would like
5to formally honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King,
6Jr.; and
7WHEREAS, As a testament to Dr. King's vision, since 1973 the
8Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus has proudly assumed the
9role of serving as an advocacy vehicle to advance the interests
10of all people of color in this Commonwealth; and
11WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus strives to
12dutifully represent the social needs of people of color in this
13Commonwealth by speaking as a united voice regarding the issues
14and concerns most deeply affecting people of color; and
15WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus solemnly
16pledges to continue to foster and advance the dream, vision and
17principles of Dr. King; therefore be it
18RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives, on behalf of the
19Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, honor the life and legacy
20of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
