A RESOLUTION

 

1Honoring the history and cooperative interaction among the
2Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Pittsburgh Bureau of
3Emergency Medical Services and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire.

4WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Bureau of Emergency Medical Services
5was formed in the summer of 1975 and consists of 13 ambulances,
62 rescue trucks, river rescue and other specialty emergency
7medical services units, together with more than 160 paramedics;
8and

9WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Bureau of Emergency Medical Services
10responds to more than 56,000 calls annually, working together on
11a daily basis for the safety, health and well-being of
12approximately 345,000 residents and visitors to the City of
13Pittsburgh; and

14WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Pittsburgh
15Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and the Pittsburgh Bureau

1of Fire have worked together to ensure events, such as the G-20
2Summit, the Pittsburgh Marathon, the National Night Out, a
3multitude of athletic events, numerous movie film productions
4and various parades, do not encounter any misfortunes, or, if
5they do, to mitigate them in a swift and efficient manner; and

6WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Pittsburgh
7Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and the Pittsburgh Bureau
8of Fire work closely together and with other municipalities and
9Region 13 for strategic planning and disaster preparedness; and

10WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Pittsburgh
11Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and the Pittsburgh Bureau
12of Fire recently reinforced the swiftwater rescue program to
13assist with accidents and emergencies on the three rivers
14surrounding and areas of flooding in and around Pittsburgh; and

15WHEREAS, It is fitting to honor the inter-bureau cooperation
16of these three outstanding agencies within the City of
17Pittsburgh; therefore be it

18RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the history
19and cooperative interaction among the Pittsburgh Bureau of
20Police, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and
21the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire.
