1Honoring George F. McCloskey for his 20 years of service as
2Mayor of Norwood Borough.

3WHEREAS, George F. McCloskey was born and raised in South
4Philadelphia; and

5WHEREAS, Mayor McCloskey has resided in Norwood Borough for
6nearly 50 years; and

7WHEREAS, Mayor McCloskey served in the United States Marine
8Corps from 1947 to 1952; and

9WHEREAS, While serving in the United States Marine Corps,
10Mayor McCloskey attained the rank of Staff Sergeant; and

11WHEREAS, Mayor McCloskey worked at Westinghouse as a welder;
12and

13WHEREAS, Mayor McCloskey served on the Norwood Borough
14Council for 11 years, from 1982 to 1993; and

15WHEREAS, For the majority of the time he served on the

1Norwood Borough Council, Mayor McCloskey served as Vice
2President; and

3WHEREAS, George F. McCloskey served as Mayor of Norwood
4Borough for 20 years, from 1993 to 2013; and

5WHEREAS, Mayor McCloskey has been married for 60 years to his
6wife, Barbara, and has six children; and

7WHEREAS, Mayor McCloskey was a pillar of his community and
8reflected the highest ideal of service to his community and
9country; therefore be it

10RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor George F.
11McCloskey for his 20 years of service as Mayor of Norwood
12Borough.
