A RESOLUTION

 

1Honoring Matt Ortega, head football coach of Coatesville Area
2Senior High School, Coatesville, Chester County, on his
3selection as Class AAAA Coach of the Year by the Associated
4Press.

5WHEREAS, Coach Matt Ortega works as a teacher for Coatesville
6Area Senior High School and has served as its head football
7coach for four years; and

8WHEREAS, During the 2012 fall season, Coach Ortega guided his
9Red Raiders to a 13-3 record, a District I Championship and an
10appearance at the PIAA Class AAAA final; and

11WHEREAS, Under Coach Ortega's leadership, the Red Raiders
12averaged a remarkable 39 points per game during the regular
13season and 45 points per game during the playoffs; and

14WHEREAS, Coach Ortega's coaching career spans 16 years and
15began in 1997 when he served as a running back coach for St.
16Francis University; and

1WHEREAS, From 1998 through 2002, he served as defensive
2coordinator for Lancaster McCaskey High School, and in 2003, he
3served as defensive coordinator for Harrisburg High School; and

4WHEREAS, From 2004 through 2008, he served as head football
5coach for York High School before being named head football
6coach at Coatesville Area Senior High School; and

7WHEREAS, Coach Ortega coached 18 Division I players and one
8player who plays in the National Football League; and

9WHEREAS, The Associated Press selected Coach Ortega as the
10Class AAAA Coach of the Year in 2012; and

11WHEREAS, After a record-setting season, Coach Ortega has
12proved that he is at the top of his game and deserves to be
13recognized for his achievements; therefore be it

14RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor Matt
15Ortega, head football coach of Coatesville Area Senior High
16School, Coatesville, Chester County, on his selection as Class
17AAAA Coach of the Year by the Associated Press.
