INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 6, 2013
A RESOLUTION
1Designating the week of May 19 through 25, 2013, as "Emergency
2Medical Services Week" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Emergency medical services are a vital public
4service; and
5WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams are
6ready to provide lifesaving care 24 hours a day, seven days a
7week, to those in need; and
8WHEREAS, Access to quality emergency care dramatically
9improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience
10sudden illness or injury; and
11WHEREAS, The emergency medical services system consists of
12emergency physicians, emergency nurses, rescue personnel,
1emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, prehospital
2nurses, air medical personnel, emergency medical responders,
3emergency vehicle operators, firefighters, police officers,
4educators, dispatchers, administrators and others; and
5WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams,
6whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of
7specialized training and continuing education to enhance their
8lifesaving skills; and
9WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize the value and the
10accomplishments of emergency medical services providers who, by
11their service, are everyday heroes; therefore be it
12RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
13week of May 19 through 25, 2013, as "Emergency Medical Services
14Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
15RESOLVED, That with the theme "EMS: One Mission, One Team,"
16all communities are encouraged to observe this week with
17appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.
