A RESOLUTION

 

1Honoring the life and service of Bradley M. Fox to the Plymouth
2Township Police Department and as a Staff Sergeant in the
3United States Marines.

4WHEREAS, Officer Bradley M. Fox, "Brad," a five-year veteran
5of the Plymouth Township Police Department, was tragically
6killed in the line of duty on September 13, 2012, on the eve of
7his 35th birthday; and

8WHEREAS, Officer Fox and his canine partner, Nick, a Belgian
9Malinois, were investigating an accident when the driver of a
10stolen vehicle involved in the crash, fled on foot; and

11WHEREAS, The suspect ambushed Officer Fox, as well as his
12partner Nick; and

1WHEREAS, Nick was also shot during the incident and survived;
2and

3WHEREAS, It was later discovered that the gun used in the
4crime was obtained illegally through a straw purchaser; and

5WHEREAS, The sacrifice of Officer Fox brought new urgency to
6the need for tough penalties for the crime of straw purchases of
7firearms; and

8WHEREAS, Act 199 of 2012 is named the Brad Fox Law in honor
9of his sacrifice; and

10WHEREAS, Officer Fox and Nick had recently graduated from the
11Philadelphia Police Canine Academy; and

12WHEREAS, Officer Fox was a Staff Sergeant in the United
13States Marines for ten years and completed two tours, 2003 in
14Iraq, and 2005 to 2006 in Fallujah; and

15WHEREAS, He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement
16Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Presidential Unit Citation,
17Selected Marine Corps Reserve (X3) Medal, National Defense
18Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism
19Expeditionary Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and The
20Armed Forces Reserve Medal; and

21WHEREAS, Officer Fox was a gifted hockey player, playing for
22the Glaciers, Junior Flyers and William Tennent High School; and

23WHEREAS, He continued to play and most recently played for
24the SLUGS and the Blueliners; and

25WHEREAS, Officer Fox was married to Lynsay and was the loving
26father of Kadence, as well as a son, Brad, Jr., born in March
272013, and was the son of Thomas J. and Kathy Lynn Fox and
28brother of James; therefore be it

29RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
30and service of Bradley M. Fox to the Plymouth Township Police

1Department and as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marines.
