A RESOLUTION
1Designating the week of May 19 through 25, 2013, as "Emergency
2Medical Services Week" and May 22, 2013, as "Emergency
3Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Day" in Pennsylvania.
4WHEREAS, Emergency medical services are a vital public
5service; and
6WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams are
7ready to provide lifesaving care 24 hours a day, seven days a
8week, to those in need; and
9WHEREAS, Access to quality emergency care dramatically
10improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience
11sudden illness or injury; and
12WHEREAS, The emergency medical services system consists of
13emergency physicians, emergency nurses, rescue personnel,
1emergency medical technicians (EMTs), paramedics, prehospital
2nurses, air medical personnel, emergency responders, first
3responders, ambulance attendants, emergency vehicle operators,
4firefighters, police officers, educators, dispatchers,
5administrators and others; and
6WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams,
7whether career or volunteer, engage in thousands of hours of
8specialized training and continuing education to enhance their
9lifesaving skills; and
10WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize the value and the
11accomplishments of emergency medical services providers who, by
12their service, are everyday heroes; therefore be it
13RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
14week of May 19 through 25, 2013, as "Emergency Medical Services
15Week" and May 22, 2013, as "Emergency Medical Services for
16Children (EMSC) Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
17RESOLVED, That with the theme "EMS: One Mission, One Team,"
18all communities are encouraged to observe this week with
19appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.
