A RESOLUTION

 

1Observing Saturday, March 30, 2013, as "National Doctors' Day"
2in Pennsylvania.

3WHEREAS, National Doctors' Day is held every year on March 30
4in the United States as a day to celebrate the contribution of
5physicians who serve our country by caring for its citizens; and

6WHEREAS, The first Doctors' Day observance was March 30,
71933, in Winder, Georgia, when Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr.
8Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor
9physicians; and

10WHEREAS, In 1990, Congress designated March 30, 1991, as
11"National Doctors' Day" by the joint resolution of October 30,
121990 (Public Law 101-473, 104 Stat. 1096); and

13WHEREAS, Society owes a debt of gratitude to physicians for
14the contributions of physicians in enlarging the reservoir of

1scientific knowledge, increasing the number of scientific tools
2and expanding the ability of health professionals to use the
3knowledge and tools effectively in the never-ending fight
4against disease; and

5WHEREAS, Society owes a debt of gratitude to physicians for
6the sympathy and compassion of physicians in ministering to the
7sick and in alleviating human suffering; therefore be it

8RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives observe Saturday,
9March 30, 2013, as "National Doctors' Day" in Pennsylvania.
