A RESOLUTION
1Recognizing the month of March 2013 as "National Athletic
2Training Month" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Quality health care is vital for individuals
4involved in physical activity; and
5WHEREAS, Certified athletic trainers have a long history of
6providing quality health care for athletes and persons engaged
7in physical activity based on specific tasks, knowledge and
8skills acquired through nationally regulated educational
9processes; and
10WHEREAS, Athletic training involves prevention of injuries,
11recognition, evaluation and aggressive treatment,
12rehabilitation, health care administration, education, research
13and guidance; and
14WHEREAS, Athletic training was recognized by the American
15Medical Association in 1990 as an allied health care profession;
16and
1WHEREAS, The National Athletic Trainers' Association
2represents and supports the more than 30,000 members of the
3athletic training profession employed in professional sports,
4colleges and universities, high schools, clinics and hospitals,
5corporate and industrial settings and the military; and
6WHEREAS, Leading organizations have joined together to raise
7public awareness of athletic training and to emphasize the
8importance of quality health care for athletes and persons
9engaged in physical activity, with the aim of improving health
10care for athletes and physically active people and promoting
11certified athletic trainers as allied health professionals;
12therefore be it
13RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
14month of March 2013 as "National Athletic Training Month" in
15Pennsylvania.
