AN ACT
1Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in juries and jurors,
3further providing for exemptions from jury duty.
4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:
6Section 1. Section 4503(a) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a paragraph to read:
8§ 4503. Exemptions from jury duty.
9(a) General rule.--No person shall be exempt or excused from
10jury duty except the following:

12(6) Breastfeeding women providing the court with a
13certified letter from their physician which states that the
14woman is breastfeeding. An excuse under this paragraph shall
15be valid for one year and may be renewed for one additional
16year provided that the woman is able to provide the court
1with a certified letter from the woman's physician which
2states that the woman is breastfeeding.
