AN ACT

 

1Amending the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.216, No.76), entitled "An
2act relating to dentistry; defining and providing for the
3licensing and registration of dentists and dental hygienists,
4and for the revocation and suspension of such licenses and
5registrations, subject to appeal, and for their
6reinstatement; defining the powers and duties of the State
7Dental Council and Examining Board and the Department of
8Public Instruction; providing penalties; and repealing
9existing laws," providing for temporary volunteer dental
10licenses.

11The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
12hereby enacts as follows:

13Section 1. The act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.216, No.76), known as
14The Dental Law, is amended by adding a section to read:

15Section 4.2. Temporary Volunteer Dental Licenses.--(a) The
16board shall issue a temporary volunteer license to an individual 
17who meets all of the following requirements:

18(1) Holds an active license to practice dentistry in this
19Commonwealth or in another state or territory.

20(2) Documents to the satisfaction of the board that the
21applicant will practice dentistry in this Commonwealth without

1personal remuneration.

2(3) Is current on all continuing education requirements.

3(4) Demonstrates medical professional liability insurance
4coverage as required under section 3.2.

5(5) Is not the subject of an ongoing disciplinary
6investigation.

7(b) By request of the applicant, the board may issue:

8(1) one thirty-day temporary volunteer license per applicant
9per year; or

10(2) up to three ten-day temporary volunteer licenses per
11applicant per year.

12Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
