1Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
2Consolidated Statutes, providing for false reports of child
3abuse.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:

8§ 4906.1. False reports of child abuse.

9A person commits a misdemeanor of the second degree if the
10person knowingly or intentionally makes a report of child abuse
11that is false or induces a child to make a false claim of child
12abuse under 23 Pa.C.S. Ch. 63 (relating to child protective
13services) for any of the following purposes:

14(1) Harassing, embarrassing or harming another person.

15(2) Personal financial gain.

16(3) Acquiring any right under 23 Pa.C.S. Ch. 53
17(relating to child custody).

18(4) Personal benefit in any other private dispute.

1Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
