AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for suspension of operating
3privilege for failure to respond to citation.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 1533(a) of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
7Consolidated Statutes, amended October 8, 2012 (P.L.1193,
8No.146), is amended to read:

9§ 1533. Suspension of operating privilege for failure to
10respond to citation.

11(a) Violations within Commonwealth.--The department shall 
12suspend the operating privilege of any person who has [failed] 
13done any of the following:

14(1) Failed to respond to a citation or summons to appear 
15before an issuing authority or a court of competent 
16jurisdiction of this Commonwealth for:

17(i) any violation of this title, other than 
18parking[,]; or [who has failed]

1(ii) any violation of the act of March 10, 1949 
2(P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949.

3(2) Failed to pay any fine, costs or restitution imposed 
4by an issuing authority or such courts for violation [of this 
5title, other than parking] under paragraph (1)(i), upon being 
6duly notified by an issuing authority or a court of this 
7Commonwealth.

9Section 2. The amendment of 75 Pa.C.S. § 1533(a) shall apply
10to failures which occur on or after the effective date of this
11section.

12Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
