A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Adopting the population data certified by the Legislative

Reapportionment Commission for use in congressional

3

redistricting legislation.

WHEREAS, Redistricting of congressional seats is required

5

following each decennial United States Census to equalize

6

district populations; and

7

WHEREAS, Accurate population data are the foundation for a

8

fair redistricting process; and

9

WHEREAS, The United States Census Bureau provided population

10

data to Pennsylvania on March 9, 2011; and

11

WHEREAS, After appropriate review, and corrections if

12

necessary, the Legislative Reapportionment Commission will

13

certify that population data from the United States Census

14

Bureau are available pursuant to section 17(c) of Article II of

15

the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; therefore

16

be it

RESOLVED (the House of Representatives concurring), That the

18

General Assembly adopt the population data to be certified by

19

the Legislative Reapportionment Commission for use in any

next United States decennial census.
