A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural

2

Educators for its significant accomplishment during the

3

2011-2012 legislative session and celebrating the

4

association's 65th anniversary.

5

WHEREAS, In 1947, Howard Fox became the first president of

6

the Pennsylvania Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association;

7

and

8

WHEREAS, In 1997, the National Vocational Agriculture

9

Teachers Association decided to change its name to the National

10

Association of Agricultural Educators; and

11

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Vocational Agriculture Teachers

12

Association became known as the Pennsylvania Association of

13

Agricultural Educators; and

14

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural

strive to advance agricultural education, promote the

3

professional interests and professional growth of agriculture

4

teachers and develop professional pride; and

5

WHEREAS, Beginning in 1949, the laws of this Commonwealth

6

included provisions for the public schools to officially provide

7

classes to vocational agriculture students and for those schools

8

to receive Federal and State funding for their efforts; and

9

WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural

10

Educators recently attained a significant accomplishment; and

11

WHEREAS, In the 2011-2012 legislative session, the

12

Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators succeeded in

13

an effort to have the definition of "education in agriculture,"

14

created in 1949, modernized to represent the many changes in

15

agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources since it was

16

first defined; and

17

WHEREAS, In addition, this year marks the 65th anniversary of

18

the Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators;

19

therefore be it

20

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the

21

Pennsylvania Association of Agricultural Educators for its

22

significant accomplishment during the 2011-2012 legislative

23

session and celebrate the association's 65th anniversary.
