INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 21, 2012  

  

  

  

A RESOLUTION

Honoring the Seton-La Salle Catholic High School Girls

2

Basketball Team for winning the 2012 Pennsylvania

3

Interscholastic Athletic Association Class AA Title and for

4

achieving an undefeated record for the season.

5

WHEREAS, On March 23, 2012, the Seton-La Salle Catholic High

6

School Girls Basketball Team captured the Pennsylvania

7

Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AA Title at

8

The Pennsylvania State University's Bryce Jordan Center,

9

prevailing over York Catholic High School by a score of 71-47 in

10

the State championship game; and

11

WHEREAS, With a perfect season record of 30 wins and 0

12

losses, the Seton-La Salle Lady Rebels became only the third

13

Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL)

14

girls team to win a PIAA title with an undefeated record; and

15

WHEREAS, Sporting a quick offense and an aggressive defense,

the Lady Rebels scored 71 points in the championship match,

2

thereby reaching the team's season scoring average and recording

3

the most points by a WPIAL girls team in a PIAA championship

4

game since 1999; and

5

WHEREAS, In order to reach the PIAA finals, the Lady Rebels

6

first had to prevail over Bishop Canevin High School in the

7

WPIAL championship on March 2, 2012, which the team succeeded in

8

doing by a score of 73-60; and

9

WHEREAS, The Lady Rebels' championship victory and

10

extraordinary undefeated season was accomplished by a team

11

composed almost entirely of underclassmen as the team had only

12

one senior in its ranks; and

13

WHEREAS, The Lady Rebels are especially deserving of public

14

recognition for achieving the nearly unthinkable, a perfect

15

season; therefore be it

16

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the

17

Seton-La Salle Catholic High School Girls Basketball Team and

18

the coaches for a momentous victory in winning the PIAA Class AA

19

Title and for a remarkable undefeated season; and be it further

20

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

21

Lauren E. Martin, Principal of Seton-La Salle Catholic High

22

School and Dennis Squeglia, Head Coach, Lady Rebels Girls

23

Basketball Team, Seton-La Salle Catholic High School, 1000

24
