INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 7, 2012  

A RESOLUTION

Designating the week of May 7 through 11, 2012, as "Teacher

Appreciation Week" in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, A strong, effective system of free public school

education for all children and youth is essential to our

democratic system of government; and

WHEREAS, The United States has made considerable progress in

social, technological and scientific fields through our system

of free and universal public education; and

WHEREAS, Much of this progress can be attributed to the

qualified and dedicated teachers entrusted with educating our

children to their full potential; and

WHEREAS, Teachers should be accorded high public esteem in

keeping with the value of public education in our communities;

and

WHEREAS, Students, parents, public officials and citizens

nationwide are keenly aware of the importance and impact of

teachers on children; and

WHEREAS, It is appropriate that teachers be recognized for

their dedication and commitment to educating students; therefore

be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives join with the

National Parent Teacher Association in designating the week of

May 7 through 11, 2012, as "Teacher Appreciation Week" in

Pennsylvania and urge all citizens to pay tribute to our public

school teachers.
