| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Recognizing the week of October 24 through 28, 2011, as "No |
2 | Place for Hate Week" in Pennsylvania and commending the Anti- |
3 | Defamation League for its outstanding efforts to promote |
4 | peace, brotherhood and goodwill through its "No Place for |
5 | Hate" program. |
6 | WHEREAS, The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was formed by |
7 | concerned citizens more than 95 years ago to fight anti-Semitism |
8 | and all forms of bigotry and discrimination; and |
9 | WHEREAS, ADL members continue today to engage in antibias |
10 | programs designed for schools, workplaces, college campuses and |
11 | communities; and |
12 | WHEREAS, A major initiative of ADL has been the "No Place for |
13 | Hate" program in schools and communities, which curbs |
14 | intolerance, bias and bullying by promoting respect for |
15 | differences; and |
16 | WHEREAS, This year marks the 10-year anniversary for "No |
17 | Place for Hate" working with Pennsylvania communities and |

1 | schools; and |
2 | WHEREAS, "No Place for Hate" projects in communities and |
3 | schools in this Commonwealth have taken the form of candlelight |
4 | vigils, surveys in middle schools and high schools, teacher and |
5 | student training, panel discussions on bullying, mural projects, |
6 | rapid response teams, marches, speeches and talent shows where |
7 | performers have presented original pieces based on the "No Place |
8 | for Hate" theme; and |
9 | WHEREAS, While its work is far from done, ADL has every |
10 | reason to be proud of its outstanding contributions to the |
11 | understanding and tolerance that exist today in American society |
12 | and especially its well-received "No Place for Hate" program; |
13 | therefore be it |
14 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the |
15 | week of October 24 through 28, 2011, as "No Place for Hate Week" |
16 | in Pennsylvania and commend the Anti-Defamation League for its |
17 | outstanding efforts to promote peace, brotherhood and goodwill |
18 | through its "No Place for Hate" program. |
