INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 2, 2011  

  

  

  

A RESOLUTION

Commending the armed forces of the United States for bringing

2

Osama bin Laden to final justice.

3

WHEREAS, Osama bin Laden has been the face of global

4

terrorism and was the architect of the September 11, 2001,

5

attacks on American citizens; and

6

WHEREAS, The dead or alive capture of Osama bin Laden has

7

been a top priority of past and current presidential

8

administrations, their intelligence agencies and the United

9

States military; and

10

WHEREAS, On May 1, 2011, United States Black Hawk helicopters

11

transported approximately two dozen troops from Navy SEAL Team-

Six, a top military counterterrorism unit, into a compound in

2

Abbottabad, Pakistan, which was identified by the CIA as bin

3

Laden's hideout and, after an approximate 40-minute firefight,

4

Osama bin Laden was shot and killed after he and his bodyguards

5

resisted capture in the assault; therefore be it

6

RESOLVED, That the Pennsylvania House of Representatives

7

commend the United States military and other involved United

8

States intelligence and strategic agencies for their service in

9

ending this near decade-long manhunt for Osama bin Laden,

10

thereby bringing justice to those responsible for the attacks on

11

September 11, 2001, and numerous other acts of terrorism across

12

the world; and be it further

13

RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to

14

the President of the United States, the presiding officers of

15

each house of Congress, to each member of Congress from

16

Pennsylvania and to the Secretary of Defense in Washington, DC.
