A RESOLUTION

Congratulating Jillian Patricia Pirtle of Philadelphia, on

2

winning the 2011 Miss Black Pennsylvania pageant.

3

WHEREAS, Jillian Patricia Pirtle received her formal training

4

from the High School of Creative and Performing Arts, where she

5

majored in vocal music and minored in instrumental violin and

6

drama performance; and

7

WHEREAS, Miss Pirtle received her bachelor of fine arts

8

degree in musical theater from the University of the Arts in

9

Philadelphia in 2004. While attending the university, Jillian

10

was inducted into the Marian Anderson Society as a Marian

11

Anderson Scholar and Classical Vocalist; and

12

WHEREAS, Miss Pirtle's platform is to shine a light on the

13

importance of the arts for developmental growth, self-esteem and

14

economic empowerment for the youth, women and men in this

15

Commonwealth and throughout the nation; and

16

WHEREAS, Miss Pirtle impressed all of the judges with her

sincerity, poise and commitment to her arts empowerment project;

2

and

WHEREAS, As Miss Black Pennsylvania, a scholar and a driven

4

African-American young lady who has a desire and a dream to make

5

a difference in our community, Miss Pirtle plans to use this

6

platform to advance appreciation for the arts; and

7

WHEREAS, Miss Pirtle plans to open a theater arts production

8

company in Philadelphia in keeping with her goal to reach young

9

men and women, making a difference in their lives; therefore be

10

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate

12

Jillian Patricia Pirtle on winning the 2011 Miss Black

13

Pennsylvania pageant and wish her continued success in her quest

14

to earn the title of Miss Black USA 2011.
