AN ACT

Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania

2

Consolidated Statutes, further providing for false reports to

3

law enforcement authorities.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Section 4906(c) of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a paragraph and the

8

section is amended by adding a subsection to read:

9

§ 4906.  False reports to law enforcement authorities.

(c)  Grading.--

(3)  If the violation of subsection (a) or (b) relates to

a felony criminal investigation involving a minor child and 

2

the person is the child's parent, an individual residing in

the same household as the child or an individual responsible

4

for the child's welfare, the offense shall be graded as a

5

felony of the third degree.

6

(d)  Definitions.--As used in this section, the following

7

words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this

8

subsection unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:

"Parent."  A natural parent, stepparent, adoptive parent,

guardian , a person responsible for the child's welfare, any

11

individual residing in the same home as the child or a paramour

12

of the child's parent or guardian or an individual involved in

13

an intimate relationship with the child's parent.

14

Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
