AN ACT

Designating a portion of State Route 955 in Lawrence Park

Township, Erie County, as the Michael D. Crotty Memorial

Parkway.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Michael D. Crotty Memorial Parkway.

(a)  Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as

follows:

(1)  Michael David Crotty was born in Erie, Pennsylvania,

on April 14, 1983, and graduated from Iroquois High School in

2001.

(2)  Michael D. Crotty served his county with honor and

distinction as a member of the United States Air Force, and

also served as a member of the Chugiak Volunteer Fire and

Rescue Department while stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base

in Anchorage, Alaska.

(3)  Michael D. Crotty returned home to Lawrence Park

Township, Erie County, after being honorably discharged in

August 2007, at which time he was promoted to the rank of

deputy chief of the Lawrence Park Volunteer Fire Department.

(4)  Michael D. Crotty was tested and named as a

firefighter for the City of Erie, Bureau of Fire, and was

assigned to Engine Company No. 6, Third Platoon.

(5)  Michael D. Crotty passed away on April 8, 2008,

while in performance of firefighting duties, at 24 years of

age.

(b)  Designation.--That portion of State Route 955 from East

Lake Road to Nagle Road in Lawrence Park Township, Erie County,

is hereby designated as the Michael D. Crotty Memorial Parkway.

(c)  Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and

maintain appropriate signs to indicate the designation under

subsection (b) to traffic in both directions.

Section 2.  Effective date.

This act shall take effect in 60 days.
