AN ACT

Providing for the exclusion of veterans disability benefits as

eligible income.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

hereby enacts as follows:

Section 1.  Short title.

This act shall be known and may be cited as the Exclusion of

Veterans Disability Benefits as Income Act.

Section 2.  Eligibility income.

Veterans' disability benefits shall not be deemed income for

purposes of eligibility under any of the following:

(1)  Chapter 13 of the act of June 27, 2006 (1st

Sp.Sess., P.L.1873, No.1), known as the Taxpayer Relief Act.

(2)  The definition of "income" in section 502 of the act

of August 26, 1971 (P.L.351, No.91), known as the State

Lottery Law.

(3)  75 Pa.C.S. § 1901(c)(16) (relating to exemption of

persons, entities and vehicles from fees).

Section 3.  Applicability.

This act shall apply as follows:

(1)  Section 2(1) of the act shall apply to income

received in calendar year 2008 and each calendar year

thereafter.

(2)  Section 2(2) of the act shall apply to income

received in calendar year 2009 and each calendar year

thereafter.

(3)  Section 2(3) of the act shall apply to registration

fees issued or renewed on or after July 1, 2009.

Section 4.  Effective date.

This act shall take effect immediately.
