INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 26, 2010  

A RESOLUTION

Marking the 150th anniversary of McGillin's Olde Ale House on

Drury Street in the City of Philadelphia.

WHEREAS, McGillin's Olde Ale House has attained distinction

as the oldest continuously operating tavern in the City of

Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, Originally known as The Bell in Hand, the historic

tavern has offered outstanding food, beverages and entertainment

since 1860; and

WHEREAS, McGillin's Olde Ale House has preserved its historic

character and thrives among other Midtown Village

establishments; and

WHEREAS, McGillin's Olde Ale House is widely recognized as

the best Irish pub in the City of Philadelphia; and

WHEREAS, In celebration of the 150th anniversary, a Creative

Black Tie Beef and Beer Dinner is slated for June 6, 2010; and

WHEREAS, The House of Representatives proudly acknowledges

the tavern's deep roots in the City of Philadelphia and

expresses best wishes for continuing exceptional service;

therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives mark the 150th

anniversary of McGillin's Olde Ale House on Drury Street in the

City of Philadelphia; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to

McGillin's Olde Ale House, 1310 Drury Street, Philadelphia PA

19107.
