A RESOLUTION

Proclaiming the week of June 7 through 13, 2009, as "State

2

Veterans' Home Week."

3

WHEREAS, The history of our nation reflects the memories of

4

the men and women who have endeavored to preserve our freedom,

5

whose task, while indescribable in terms of sacrifice and

6

commitment, stands as a lasting tribute to the ideals we value

7

as Americans; and

8

WHEREAS, These heroes, every man and woman, relinquished a

9

part of their lives in defense of these United States, and their

10

struggles will never be forgotten, overlooked or underestimated;

11

and

12

WHEREAS, Those who served our country in the United States

13

Armed Forces forever carry the virtues of liberty, freedom and

the right to independence, and we, as citizens of the United

2

States of America, owe an inexpressible debt to these men and

3

women, and we take time here to thank each of these American

4

heroes, past and present; and

5

WHEREAS, The Commonwealth has, for more than 100 years,

6

provided a home for these distinguished veterans in need; and

7

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania will continue to honor its veterans by

8

providing them with support; therefore be it

9

RESOLVED, That, in recognition of our veterans and veterans'

10

homes, the House of Representatives proclaim the week of June 7

11

through 13, 2009, as "State Veterans' Home Week" and encourage

12

all citizens to visit a State-supported home in Erie,

13

Hollidaysburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton or Spring City

14

and thank these veterans and the personnel who serve them.
