A RESOLUTION

Declaring the month of January 2010 as "Catholic Schools Month"

2

in Pennsylvania.

3

WHEREAS, Roman Catholic schools in this Commonwealth are

4

celebrating "Catholic Schools Month" in January 2010; and

5

WHEREAS, Roman Catholic elementary and secondary schools,

6

educating approximately 184,000 students annually, save State

7

and local taxpayers more than $1 billion each year; and

8

WHEREAS, Roman Catholic schools instill in young people a

9

strong foundation of values, self-esteem, self-confidence and

10

leadership skills; and

11

WHEREAS, Roman Catholic schools, in providing young people

12

with solid values and academic skills needed in becoming

responsible citizens of this Commonwealth and nation, have a

2

dropout rate of less than 3% and a postgraduate higher education

3

enrollment rate of 80%; therefore be it

4

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives declare the month

5

of January 2010 as "Catholic Schools Month" in this Commonwealth

6

and express congratulations and appreciation to Roman Catholic

7

elementary and secondary schools across this Commonwealth on the

8

occasion of "Catholic Schools Month" in 2010.
