| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Providing released prisoners inmates released from State | <-- |
2 | correctional institutions with access to voter registration |
3 | materials; and imposing duties on the Department of |
4 | Corrections. |
5 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
6 | hereby enacts as follows: |
7 | Section 1. Short title. |
8 | This act shall be known and may be cited as the Voter |
9 | Registration for Released Prisoners Act. |
10 | Section 2. Definitions. |
11 | The following words and phrases when used in this act shall |
12 | have the meanings given to them in this section unless the |
13 | context clearly indicates otherwise: |
14 | "Department." The Department of Corrections of the |
15 | Commonwealth. |
16 | "Institution." Any of the following: | <-- |
17 | (1) A State correctional facility. |
18 | (2) A county correctional facility. |

2 | (a) Materials.--The department shall make voter registration |
3 | applications available to administrators in every State | <-- |
4 | correctional institution. |
5 | (b) Distribution.--Upon release from an a State correctional | <-- |
6 | institution, an inmate shall be provided with a voter |
7 | registration application. |
8 | Section 10 4. Effective date. | <-- |
9 | This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
