| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending the act of March 7, 1901 (P.L.20, No.14), entitled "An |
2 | act for the government of cities of the second class," |
3 | providing for contracts granting rights to use or control |
4 | city suites. |
5 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
6 | hereby enacts as follows: |
7 | Section 1. Article XV of the act of March 7, 1901 (P.L.20, |
8 | No.14), referred to as the Second Class City Law, amended July |
9 | 13, 1988 (P.L.523, No.92), is amended by adding a section to |
10 | read: |
11 | Section 1.3. No city officer shall execute any contract |
12 | under which the city will be granted the right to use or control |
13 | a city suite unless such contract requires that the city suite |
14 | be leased by the city to the highest responsible bidder for a |
15 | term of no more than ten years, with all rental payments paid |
16 | into the city's general fund. If the city has the right to use |
17 | or control the use of a city suite under a contract executed |
18 | before the effective date of this section, then the city shall |
19 | lease such city suite to the highest responsible bidder for a |

3 | "city suite" means a suite, box or other portion of a sports |
4 | stadium, ball park, arena or other sports facility with a |
5 | seating capacity in excess of seventeen thousand seats. |
6 | Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately. |
