A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing May 8, 2008, as "National Children's Mental Health 2 Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth is committed to community-based 4 mental health care systems; and 5 WHEREAS, Mental health disorders affect 1 in 5 children; and 6 WHEREAS, Untreated mental health disorders are very costly; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, Children who receive needed mental health services 9 attain higher rates of education; and 10 WHEREAS, Children who receive needed mental health services 11 are less likely to enter the juvenile and criminal justice 12 systems; and 13 WHEREAS, Children's mental health services promote the 14 positive development of affected children at home, in school and 15 in our communities; and 16 WHEREAS, Children's mental health services promote efficient
1 use of resources through interagency cooperation; and 2 WHEREAS, Development, recovery and resilience are the focus 3 of "National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day"; and 4 WHEREAS, "Thriving in the Community," this year's theme, 5 highlights the positive outcomes associated with comprehensive 6 children's mental health care services; therefore be it 7 RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize May 8, 2008, as "National 8 Children's Mental Health Awareness Day" in Pennsylvania.
