           ARMSTRONG, TARTAGLIONE, TOMLINSON, EARLL, M. WHITE AND
           GREENLEAF, APRIL 27, 2007

        SENATOR RHOADES, EDUCATION, AS AMENDED, MAY 1, 2007

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," further providing for the educational
     6     assistance program.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 1512-C of the act of March 10, 1949
    10  (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
    11  amended by adding a subsection to read:
    12  Section 1512-C.  Educational Assistance Program.

    14     (j)  Annual report.--No later than June 30, 2007 FEBRUARY 1,   <--
    15  2008, and February 1 of each year thereafter, the department
    16  shall submit a report to the chairmen and the minority chairmen
    17  of the Appropriations Committee and the Education Committee of
    18  the Senate and to the chairmen and the minority chairmen of the
    19  Appropriations Committee and the Education Committee of the


     1  House of Representatives summarizing the operation of the
     2  educational assistance program for that fiscal year. The report
     3  shall be included on the Department of Education's Internet
     4  website. The report shall include:
     5         (1)  A listing of the providers approved under section
     6     1505-C.
     7         (2)  For each provider approved under section 1505-C:
     8             (i)  The number of eligible school entities that have
     9         entered into a contract with the provider.
    10             (ii)  The number of students for whom tutoring
    11         services were provided, by grade level.
    12             (iii)  The assessment of academic progress conducted
    13         by the department under subsection (f)(2).
    14         (3)  A listing of each eligible school entity.
    15         (4)  For each eligible school entity:
    16             (i)  The number of students eligible for tutoring
    17         services, by grade level.
    18             (ii)  The number of students for whom tutoring
    19         services were provided, by grade level.
    20             (iii)  The assessment of academic progress conducted
    21         by the department under subsection (f)(2).
    22         (5)  A listing of each eligible school entity to which
    23     the department has provided technical assistance under
    24     subsection (f)(1).
    25     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
