        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 20, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing July 2008 as "Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer
     2     Month" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers
     4  and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition have teamed up to
     5  undertake the Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer project and
     6  take part in a home run derby event honoring one of America's
     7  favorite pastimes while raising awareness of breast cancer and
     8  for breast cancer education, outreach and advocacy throughout
     9  this Commonwealth; and


     1     WHEREAS, This unique community event has brought together the
     2  two organizations in a concerted effort to unite 11 minor league
     3  ballparks from all across this Commonwealth with the goal of
     4  heightening awareness of the disease currently affecting 103,000
     5  Pennsylvania women, with 9,500 more being diagnosed each year;
     6  and
     7     WHEREAS, By partnering with minor league ballparks in all
     8  corners of the State, from the York Revolution on July 1 and the
     9  State College Spikes on July 2 to the Reading Phillies on July 8
    10  and the Washington Wild Things on July 10 and from the Erie Sea
    11  Wolves on July 11 to the Williamsport Crosscutters on July 14 to
    12  the Harrisburg Senators on July 15 and the Lehigh Valley Iron
    13  Pigs on July 18 then from the Altoona Curve on July 20 to the
    14  Wilkes-Barre Scranton Yankees on July 22 to the Lancaster
    15  Barnstormers on July 28, we can encourage families from diverse
    16  interests to come together for fun activities to raise money for
    17  an important cause; therefore be it
    18     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives lend its support
    19  and well wishes to the Pennsylvania Association of Community
    20  Bankers and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition as they
    21  Take a Swing Against Breast Cancer for the women and their
    22  families across this Commonwealth whose lives are impacted by
    23  this terrible disease and recognize July 2008 as "Take a Swing
    24  Against Breast Cancer Month" in Pennsylvania.
