A RESOLUTION 1 Expressing condolences and honoring the life of United States 2 Army Sergeant First Class Shawn Michael Suzch, who paid the 3 supreme sacrifice in the service of his nation on March 10, 4 2008, while on duty in Baghdad, Iraq. 5 WHEREAS, United States Army Sergeant First Class Shawn 6 Michael Suzch, 32, paid the supreme sacrifice while in the 7 service of his nation on March 10, 2008; and 8 WHEREAS, Sergeant Suzch led a platoon in Mansour, a wealthy 9 section of Baghdad, when he, his men and an interpreter were 10 approached by a man who detonated bombs he wore under his 11 clothing; and 12 WHEREAS, Sergeant Suzch, who grew up in Bucks County and 13 graduated from Pennridge High School, had served in the Army for 14 13 years, including two previous tours in Iraq, a tour in Kosovo 15 and a tour in Macedonia, and was awarded the Bronze Star 16 posthumously; and 17 WHEREAS, At the time of his death, Sergeant Suzch was 18 attached to 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade
1 Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, based out of Fort Stewart, 2 Georgia; and 3 WHEREAS, Sergeant Suzch is survived by his wife, Angela, and 4 daughter, Alyssa Jayden; and 5 WHEREAS, While much could be written about this hero and the 6 exemplary life he gave for his country, let it simply be said 7 that his death is a tragic loss to this Commonwealth; therefore 8 be it 9 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express 10 condolences and honor the life of United States Army Sergeant 11 First Class Shawn Michael Suzch, who paid the supreme sacrifice 12 in the service of his nation on March 10, 2008, while on duty in 13 Baghdad, Iraq.
