A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the Valley Forge Military College as the official 2 military college of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, In this era of global war, it is certain that our 4 country will continue to have a critical demand to produce 5 trained professional military officers; and 6 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is privileged to be home to one of only 7 five early-commissioning military programs in the entire United 8 States; and 9 WHEREAS, Valley Forge Military College is a private, 10 coeducational, two-year college enrolling approximately 220 11 cadets in its first-year and second-year programs; and 12 WHEREAS, Students at Valley Forge Military College benefit 13 from a complete military school education that encompasses a 14 strong academic program, leadership opportunities, character 15 development, athletic competition, physical fitness,
1 extracurricular activities and social interactions with a 2 diverse group of peers; and 3 WHEREAS, When students leave Valley Forge Military College, 4 some pursue military careers or attend the nation's most- 5 respected service academies, while others continue on to the 6 country's most competitive four-year colleges and universities; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, Valley Forge Military College is accredited by the 9 Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is 10 approved by the Council of Higher Education and the Commission 11 on Higher Education of the Pennsylvania Department of Education; 12 and 13 WHEREAS, Valley Forge Military College is a member of the 14 National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, 15 the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities, and the 16 Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United 17 States; and 18 WHEREAS, If Pennsylvania is to retain a role in the training 19 and education of our military officer corps, it is essential 20 that Valley Forge Military College be a vibrant and sustainable 21 institution; therefore be it 22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate Valley 23 Forge Military College as the official military college of the 24 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and continue to show its support 25 for this distinguished educational institution.
