        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MARCH 21, 2007

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating May 1, 2007, as "No Place for Hate Day" in
     2     Pennsylvania and commending the Anti-Defamation League for
     3     its outstanding efforts to promote peace, brotherhood and
     4     goodwill through its "No Place for Hate" program.

     5     WHEREAS, The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) was formed by
     6  concerned citizens more than 93 years ago to fight anti-Semitism
     7  and all forms of bigotry and discrimination; and
     8     WHEREAS, ADL members continue today to engage in anti-bias
     9  programs designed for schools, workplaces, college campuses and
    10  communities; and
    11     WHEREAS, A major initiative of ADL has been the "No Place for
    12  Hate" program in schools and communities to curb intolerance,
    13  bias and bullying by promoting respect for differences; and
    14     WHEREAS, "No Place for Hate" projects in communities and

     1  schools in this Commonwealth have taken the form of candlelight
     2  vigils, surveys in middle schools and high schools, teacher and
     3  student training, panel discussions on bullying, mural projects,
     4  formation of rapid response teams, marches, speeches and talent
     5  shows where performers have presented original pieces based on
     6  the "No Place for Hate" theme; and
     7     WHEREAS, While its work is far from done, ADL has every
     8  reason to be proud of its outstanding contributions to the
     9  understanding and tolerance that exist today in American society
    10  and especially its well-received five-year-old "No Place for
    11  Hate" program; therefore be it
    12     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 1,
    13  2007, as "No Place for Hate Day" in Pennsylvania and commend the
    14  Anti-Defamation League for its outstanding efforts to promote
    15  peace, brotherhood and goodwill through its "No Place for Hate"
    16  program.
