                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of May 17, 1921 (P.L.682, No.284), entitled "An
     2     act relating to insurance; amending, revising, and
     3     consolidating the law providing for the incorporation of
     4     insurance companies, and the regulation, supervision, and
     5     protection of home and foreign insurance companies, Lloyds
     6     associations, reciprocal and inter-insurance exchanges, and
     7     fire insurance rating bureaus, and the regulation and
     8     supervision of insurance carried by such companies,
     9     associations, and exchanges, including insurance carried by
    10     the State Workmen's Insurance Fund; providing penalties; and
    11     repealing existing laws," further providing for issuance of
    12     group accident and sickness insurance.

    13     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    14  hereby enacts as follows:
    15     Section 1.  Section 621.2(a) of the act of May 17, 1921

     1  (P.L.682, No.284), known as The Insurance Company Law of 1921,
     2  is amended by adding a clause to read:
     3     Section 621.2.  Group Accident and Sickness Insurance.--(a)
     4  Group accident and sickness insurance is hereby declared to be
     5  that form of accident and sickness insurance covering groups of
     6  persons defined in this section with or without one or more
     7  members of their families or one or more of their dependents, or
     8  covering one or more members of the families or one or more
     9  dependents of such groups or persons and issued upon the
    10  following basis:

    12     (2.1)  (i)  Notwithstanding the provisions of clause (2), a
    13  group of two or more employers may join for the purpose of
    14  obtaining group insurance.
    15     (ii)  The Insurance Department shall establish group
    16  certification requirements and promulgate necessary regulations.
    17     (iii)  As used in this clause:
    18     "Employer." Means an employer that employs at least two but
    19  not more than fifty employes.

    21     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
