AN ACT 1 Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania 2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for 3 telecommunications service supplied to certain organizations. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 1511 of Title 66 of the Pennsylvania 7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: 8 § 1511. [Electricity] Electric and telecommunications service 9 supplied to certain organizations. 10 (a) Electric service.--Any public utility company supplying 11 electric service shall, upon application, permit a volunteer 12 fire company, a nonprofit rescue squad or ambulance service or a 13 nonprofit senior citizen center to elect to have its electric 14 service rendered pursuant to a rate schedule which provides 15 equivalent charges for such service as residential rates upon 16 execution of a contract for a minimum term of one year.
1 (b) Telecommunications service.--Any telecommunications 2 utility providing telecommunications service within a certified 3 exchange area shall, upon application, permit a volunteer fire 4 company or a nonprofit senior citizen center to elect to have 5 its telecommunications service rendered pursuant to a rate 6 schedule which provides equivalent charges for such 7 telecommunications service as residential rates upon execution 8 of a contract for a minimum of one year. 9 (c) Definitions.--As used in this section, the following 10 words and phrases shall have the meanings given to them in this 11 subsection: 12 "Telecommunications service." The term shall have the 13 meaning given to it under section 3012 (relating to 14 definitions). 15 "Telecommunications utility." Any provider of 16 telecommunications service. 17 "Volunteer fire company." The term shall have the meaning 18 given to it in the act of July 15, 1976 (P.L.1036, No.208), 19 known as the Volunteer Fire Company, Ambulance Service and 20 Rescue Squad Assistance Act. 21 Section 2.
