                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
     3     bail to be governed by general rules.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 5702 of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 5702.  Bail to be governed by general rules.
     9     (a)  General rule.--Except as otherwise provided by this
    10  section and title and the laws relating to the regulation of
    11  surety companies, all matters relating to the fixing, posting,
    12  forfeiting, exoneration and distribution of bail and
    13  recognizances shall be governed by general rules.
    14     (b)  Use or display of firearm.--The amount of bail fixed for
    15  any person charged with an offense committed while the person
    16  used or displayed a firearm as defined in 18 Pa.C.S. § 6102
    17  (relating to definitions) shall not be less than $50,000 unless


     1  special circumstances are presented.
     2     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
