        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           FEBRUARY 13, 2006

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Paying tribute to United States Army Specialist Jeremy W.
     2     Feldbusch, who has overcome life-altering injuries sustained
     3     while serving in Iraq in April 2003 to become a model for
     4     wounded service members.

     5     WHEREAS, United States Army Specialist Jeremy W. Feldbusch, a
     6  native of Blairsville, is a 1997 graduate of Derry Area High
     7  School; and
     8     WHEREAS, Specialist Feldbusch graduated from the University
     9  of Pittsburgh with a degree in biology; and
    10     WHEREAS, Upon graduating from college, Specialist Feldbusch

     1  joined the United States Army; and
     2     WHEREAS, Specialist Feldbusch completed United States Army
     3  Ranger training, graduating first in his class of 228 soldiers;
     4  and
     5     WHEREAS, While serving as a mortar gunman with the 75th
     6  Ranger Regiment in April 2003, Specialist Feldbusch lost his
     7  sight and sustained severe head injuries when he was struck by
     8  shrapnel as his unit fought to secure a dam in Iraq; and
     9     WHEREAS, Specialist Feldbusch courageously battled to recover
    10  from his injuries and has learned to thrive despite lasting
    11  physical challenges; and
    12     WHEREAS, Specialist Feldbusch has become a role model for
    13  injured soldiers by campaigning for programs to assist other
    14  veterans who have suffered life-altering injuries; and
    15     WHEREAS, As a supporter of the Wounded Warrior organization,
    16  Specialist Feldbusch has raised money for wounded service
    17  members and lobbied Congress for insurance for severely wounded
    18  soldiers; and
    19     WHEREAS, Specialist Feldbusch is featured in a documentary
    20  titled "Home Front" to bring attention to the needs of America's
    21  wounded service members and offer hope to newly wounded
    22  soldiers; and
    23     WHEREAS, Specialist Feldbusch's resilient spirit and
    24  dedication to serving others are an inspiration to the citizens
    25  of this Commonwealth; therefore be it
    26     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives pay tribute to
    27  Specialist Jeremy W. Feldbusch for his service to our country,
    28  his courage in overcoming life-altering injuries from the war in
    29  Iraq and his admirable work on behalf of fellow injured
    30  soldiers.
