        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           NOVEMBER 14, 2005

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Paying tribute to and honoring the memory of Staff Sgt. Shawn A.
     2     Graham, a member of the 56th Brigade Combat Team, 36th
     3     Infantry Division, 124th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the
     4     Texas Army National Guard, who tragically lost his life while
     5     on active duty in Iraq.

     6     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Shawn a. Graham was born in Orange,
     7  California, on March 25, 1971, graduated from Grove City High
     8  School in 1989 and attended Slippery Rock University; and
     9     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Graham joined the Pennsylvania National
    10  Guard in 1988 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in


     1  1990, serving ten years of active duty; and
     2     WHEREAS, In 2002 the Marine Corps recalled Staff Sgt. Graham
     3  to active duty for one year; and
     4     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Graham's love of country led him to
     5  service with the Texas Army National Guard in 2004; and
     6     WHEREAS, In January 2005 Staff Sgt. Graham was deployed to
     7  Iraq for a tour of duty as a member of the 56th Brigade Combat
     8  Team, 36th Infantry Division, 124th Armored Cavalry Regiment;
     9  and
    10     WHEREAS, On September 25, 2005, Staff Sgt. Graham died
    11  tragically in Balad, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a vehicle
    12  accident while on mission that day in Baghdad, Iraq; and
    13     WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Graham, beloved husband of Jeannette
    14  Villalpando Graham, son of Kathleen and Thomas Graham and
    15  brother of Sheila R. Berry and Staff Sgt. Nicholas R. Graham,
    16  was courageously and honorably serving his country and the
    17  campaign for Iraqi Freedom at the time of his death; therefore
    18  be it
    19     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives pay special
    20  tribute to the life of Staff Sgt. Shawn A. Graham, with
    21  gratitude for his unfaltering courage, selflessness, dedication
    22  and valor, and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
    23  family; and be it further
    24     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    25  the family of Staff Sgt. Shawn A. Graham in Grove City,
    26  Pennsylvania, with deepest respect for his ultimate sacrifice in
    27  the fight for freedom on behalf of the citizens of this
    28  Commonwealth and our nation.
