AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," further providing for health
6 services.
7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
8 hereby enacts as follows:
9 Section 1. Section 1402(a.1) of the act of March 10, 1949
10 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
11 amended December 7, 1965 (P.L.1041, No.390), is amended to read:
12 Section 1402. Health Services.--* * *
13 (a.1) Every child of school age shall be provided with
14 school nurse services: Provided, however, That the number of
15 pupils under the care of each school nurse shall not exceed [one
16 thousand five hundred (1,500).] one thousand (1,000) by school
1 year 2010-2011. School districts shall meet compliance with this
2 requirement according to the following schedule:
3 (1) For the 2006-2007 school year the number of pupils under
4 the care of each school nurse shall not exceed one thousand four
5 hundred (1,400).
6 (2) For the 2007-2008 school year the number of pupils under
7 the care of each school nurse shall not exceed one thousand
8 three hundred (1,300).
9 (3) For the 2008-2009 school year the number of pupils under
10 the care of each school nurse shall not exceed one thousand two
11 hundred (1,200).
12 (4) For the 2009-2010 school year the number of pupils under
13 the care of each school nurse shall not exceed one thousand one
14 hundred (1,100).

16 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
