AN ACT
1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for library
3 notification by offenders and sexually violent predators.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 42 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 9798.3. Library notification.
9 (a) Duty to notify library.--Upon each entry into a public
10 library, offenders and sexually violent predators shall notify a
11 library staff person of their status as an offender or sexually
12 violent predator. For purposes of notification, offenders and
13 sexually violent predators must have a valid form of government-
14 issued photoidentification available for the inspection of the
15 library staff person. The library staff person shall document
16 offenders' and sexually violent predators' names and date and
1 time of attendance in the public library.
2 (b) Penalty.--An individual subject to notification under
3 this section who fails to notify a library staff person commits
4 a misdemeanor of the third degree.
5 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
