                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An
     2     act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public
     3     welfare laws of the Commonwealth," providing for continuation
     4     of demonstration projects for cardiac care.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  The act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), known
     8  as the Public Welfare Code, is amended by adding a section to
     9  read:
    10     Section 1002.1.  Continuation of Demonstration Projects for
    11  Cardiac Care.--Any hospital that is subject to the provisions of
    12  this act, which also operates a demonstration project for
    13  percutaneous coronary intervention, shall, upon expiration of
    14  the demonstration project period initially approved by the
    15  Department of Health, receive permanent approval of the service
    16  operated under the demonstration project in accordance with the

     1  conditions as initially approved, unless otherwise agreed to in
     2  writing by the hospital. Nothing in this section shall prevent
     3  the Department of Health from promulgating regulations regarding
     4  percutaneous coronary intervention.
     5     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
