                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for retention of
     3     licenses of persons entering military service.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Sections 7502 and 7503 of Title 51 of the
     7  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:
     8  § 7502.  Retention of licenses of persons entering military
     9             service.
    10     (a)  General rule.--Any person licensed by the Department of
    11  State, [or to whom a broker's license has been issued by the
    12  Department of Insurance,] Department of Labor and Industry,


     1  Department of Education, Insurance Department or Department of
     2  Banking to practice any profession or to work at any trade or
     3  occupation, who heretofore has or shall thereafter enlist or be
     4  inducted or drafted into the military or naval service of the
     5  United States in time of war or preparation for national defense
     6  during a national emergency, shall not thereby forfeit his or
     7  her current license or registration and shall be exempt from any
     8  continuing educational requirements.
     9     (b)  Renewal of license following discharge.--Any such
    10  person, upon presentation of a discharge from such service
    11  within one year from date thereof, and upon payment of the fee
    12  prescribed by law for the current renewal period only, shall be
    13  entitled to a renewal of his or her license or registration in
    14  the same manner as though such renewal had been made prior to
    15  the expiration of his or her last preceding renewal, [and] as
    16  though all intermediate renewal fees had been paid and as though
    17  all continuing education requirements have been satisfied.
    18  [§ 7503.  Applicability of chapter.
    19     This chapter shall apply specifically to any holder of any
    20  license or certificate granted or renewed by any professional
    21  examining board within the Department of Education. It shall
    22  also apply specifically to the holder of any license to act as a
    23  real estate or insurance broker, or salesman, and to the holder
    24  of a certificate to teach, a certificate as a school nurse, a
    25  dental hygienist, or a home and school visitor of this
    26  Commonwealth.]
    27     Section 2.  Title 51 is amended by adding a section to read:
    28  § 7503.1.  Applicability of chapter.
    29     The Pennsylvania Supreme Court may extend this chapter to
    30  those licensed to practice law in this Commonwealth.
