        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, SEPTEMBER 25, 2001

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing and applauding the efforts of Pennsylvanians who
     2     volunteered in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks.

     3     WHEREAS, On September 11, 2001, we Americans suffered our
     4  saddest hour when heinous and barbaric acts of terrorism were
     5  committed against our homeland; and
     6     WHEREAS, These reprehensible and despicable acts were
     7  committed in New York City, where two planes crashed into the
     8  World Trade Center, and in the vicinity of our nation's capital,
     9  where yet another plane crashed into the Pentagon; and
    10     WHEREAS, These acts claimed the lives of countless Americans;
    11  and
    12     WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians, in the wake of these horrific
    13  attacks, immediately responded to the needs of their injured and
    14  victimized fellow Americans; and
    15     WHEREAS, Volunteers, far too many to name and count, from all

     1  over this Commonwealth, reached out to the victims of these
     2  terrible attacks by offering their time and services, skills and
     3  talents, as well as donations of their own money and blood;
     4  therefore be it
     5     RESOLVED, That the Senate applaud the Pennsylvania volunteers
     6  for their tireless efforts and commitment to aiding their
     7  neighbors in New York City and in the Washington, D.C., area and
     8  recognize their heroic acts.
