A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the fraternal and philanthropic work of the Tall 2 Cedars of Lebanon, congratulating its members on the occasion 3 of its 100th anniversary in 2002 and designating the week of 4 March 17 through 23, 2002, as "Tall Cedars of Lebanon Week" 5 in Pennsylvania. 6 WHEREAS, The Tall Cedars of Lebanon was incorporated in 7 Trenton, New Jersey, in 1902 as an organization guided by the 8 tenets of equality for all persons, devotion to fellowship with 9 friends and neighbors and finding balance between fulfilling 10 one's responsibilities and renewing the human spirit through 11 recreation; and 12 WHEREAS, The Tall Cedars of Lebanon is a Masonic-affiliated 13 organization whose history is rooted in the construction of King 14 Solomon's temple from the wood of huge cedar trees grown in 15 Lebanon; and 16 WHEREAS, There are Tall Cedars of Lebanon forests throughout 17 the eastern United States and Canada, and the headquarters of 18 the organization is in Harrisburg; and 19 WHEREAS, Much charitable and philanthropic work has been done
1 by the members of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, especially on 2 behalf of persons disabled by muscular dystrophy; and 3 WHEREAS, Since 1951, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon has donated 4 millions of dollars to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of 5 America in order to help persons afflicted with muscular 6 dystrophy and other neuromuscular diseases and to find a cure 7 for these diseases; therefore be it 8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the 9 fraternal and philanthropic work of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, 10 congratulate its members on the occasion of its 100th 11 anniversary in 2002 and designate the week of March 17 through 12 23, 2002, as "Tall Cedars of Lebanon Week" in Pennsylvania.
