AS AMENDED ON THIRD CONSIDERATION, IN SENATE, JUNE 17, 2002
AN ACT
1 Making an appropriation from a restricted revenue account within
2 the General Fund AND from Federal augmentation funds and from <--
3 the First Class City Taxicab Regulatory Fund to the
4 Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. The following sums, or as much thereof as may be
8 necessary, are specifically appropriated from the restricted
9 revenue account within the General Fund and from Federal
10 augmentation funds to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission
11 to provide for the operation of the commission for the fiscal
12 year July 1, 2002, to June 30, 2003, for the purposes and in the
13 amounts shown:
14 Federal State
15 For the salaries, wages and all
16 necessary expenses for the proper
17 operation and administration of the
18 Pennsylvania Public Utility
1 Commission, including the chairman and
2 commissioners and the Bureau of Safety
3 and Enforcement.
4 State appropriation........ 42,898,000
5 The following Federal augmentation
6 amounts, or as much thereof as may be
7 necessary, are specifically
8 appropriated to supplement the sum
9 authorized to be billed to utilities
10 for the operation of the commission:
11 (1) "Natural Gas Pipeline
12 Safety" - To enforce the
13 regulations of the Natural Gas
14 Pipeline Safety Act.
15 Federal appropriation...... 350,000
16 (2) "MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY." <--
17 FEDERAL APPROPRIATION...... 860,000
18 Any Federal funds which the
19 Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission
20 receives pursuant to these
21 appropriations shall not be reimbursed
22 to any utility.
23 Section 2. There is hereby appropriated to the Pennsylvania <--
24 Public Utility Commission a sum not to exceed $2,500,000 from
25 the First Class City Taxicab Regulatory Fund established by and
26 authorized in 66 Pa.C.S. Ch. 24 (relating to taxicabs in first
27 class cities) for hospitality initiatives making taxicab service
28 in the city of the first class more consumer friendly. Any money
29 not encumbered by June 30, 2004, shall lapse into the First
30 Class City Taxicab Regulatory Fund.

1 Section 3 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2002, or <--
2 immediately, whichever is later.
