        AS RE-REPORTED FROM COMMITTEE ON APPROPRIATIONS, HOUSE OF
           REPRESENTATIVES, AS AMENDED, FEBRUARY 11, 2002

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, prohibiting certain pointing of laser
     3     beams.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 5518.  Use of a laser pointer.
     9     An individual commits a misdemeanor of the third degree if
    10  the individual knowingly, with the intent to harass, annoy or
    11  alarm, shines a laser pointer at a law enforcement officer,
    12  firefighter or emergency medical service personnel, who is
    13  acting within the scope of employment.
    14     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 30 days.          <--
